Did you know that the average length for a normal marriage in the United States is around eight years? It varies depending on where you go—New York is about 12 years on average. That’s pretty great considering stats say 50% of all marriages end in divorce.
But Hollywood marriages tend to last an even shorter amount of time. In fact, some celebs are known for their notoriously short marriages. Do you remember when Britney Spears got married to Jason Alexander? That marriage lasted a total of 55 hours. No, we didn’t say months (and certainly not years). We said hours. And she isn’t the only one who had a short-lived marriage.
We’re going to go over some of the shortest celeb marriages that have ever existed. Some of these we’re not surprised about, but others? Hopefully, they had a prenup.
Cher and Gregg Allman: 9 Days
Allman’s bad habits were too much for this marriage. After just nine days married, Cher sought a divorce, one that wouldn’t be finalized for another two years.
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander: 55 Hours
In 2004, Britney Spears married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas. It was annulled 55 hours later on the grounds Spears was incapable of consenting because, you know, she was in Vegas.
Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman: 9 Days
Carmen’s 1998 marriage to the eccentric basketball player didn’t even make into double digits. After 9 days they filed for an annulment. Real shocking for a Vegas wedding that happened at 7 am.
