22 Cosplayers Who Went All Out for Comic Con
It’s that time of the year again: Comic Con season. Geeks, nerds, fanboys, and fangirls alike are prepping for the most anticipated part of their year. New movies, shows, and games will be announced at any of the hundreds of cons happening across the globe during the spring and early summer. Not only that, but cons also provide an outlet for another creative hobby to shine: cosplay.
Now, I know a lot of older people or people who aren’t very into the nerdy things associated with cons are probably asking the same thing: what the hell is cosplay? By definition, cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from books, TV shows, movies, video games, or animes.
Before anyone starts judging cosplayers, saying that they’re ‘too old to play dress up’ or whatever, know that this is something that people of literally every age does. There are two-year-old cosplayers and 80-year-old cosplayers. Cosplay is just an outlet that grants people a chance to be creative and make something they’re proud of so they can show it off to a community of other creators.
There are casual cosplayers, the ones who do it just for fun, and then there are these guys. People who have found a way to make gigantic, elaborate, or truly amazing cosplays that range across all areas of geekdom. So, sit back, relax, and take a look at some of these incredible cosplayers who went all out during con season!
Gamora and Thanos, Marvel

What did it cost? Probably a lot of money, honestly.
Thanos looks like such a good dad here. Who could think he’s about to snap half of the convention out of existence?
Kitana, Mortal Kombat

Gorgeously intricate, this cosplayer killed it!
Keep Kitana on your side or else you may end up as another one of her fatalities.
D.Va, Overwatch

Not quite a full mech-suit, but this one is still large and crazy awesome! All systems operational. D.Va, ready for combat.
Nailed the look, but may have some trouble if somebody sneaks up from behind.
Bellatrix & Voldemort, Harry Potter

These two look like they’re about to make trouble for all the muggles at Comic Con.
They might do evil, but they sure look good doing it!
Widowmaker, Overwatch

If you’re going to cosplay as Widowmaker, you’ll need to invest in some serious body paint.
Luckily, this fan took things all the way and ended up looking great!
Tony Stark, Marvel

We miss you 3,000.
What better way to commemorate this awesome franchise?
Princess Zelda, Legend of Zelda

Regal, elegant, beautiful. This cosplayer’s got it all, just like Zelda herself!
She is the princess herself, pointy ears and all.
Mercy, Overwatch

Overwatch‘s Mercy is the game’s healer.
Just what we need right now, for just about everyone.
Voltron, Voltron: Legendary Defenders

Mech suits are super popular cosplays, and this one looks like a ROAR-ing good time.
In the spirit out of the suit, this costume really came together.
Angel and Rogue, X-Men

Our one question for cosplayers with these giant wings is how do you get through doors? Amazing, nonetheless!
Stand clear in case this hero turns too quickly.
Kha’Zix, League of Legends

One of the coolest we’ve seen for sure!
This cosplayer is really in a League of their own.
Merida, Brave

This cosplayers fate must’ve been to make one the most gorgeous Brave cosplays ever!
All around epic!
Kaneki Ken, Tokyo Ghoul

Kaneki’s story in the anime might be considered a tragedy, but this cosplay sure isn’t!
The only way to make this look more authentic would be a couple of real snakes, though we wouldn’t recommend it.
Bucky Barnes, Marvel

Step aside, Captain America–Bucky is here to save the day.
Who says that sidekicks can’t rock?
Eijiro Kirishima, My Hero Academia

The super-popular anime My Hero Academia has turned out some truly awesome cosplays, just like this one! It’s not hard to see why we like it!
Keep your distance when checking out this costume!
Skull Kid, The Legend of Zelda

Skull Kid is still wearing Majora’s mask, so it can be hard to tell if he’s friend or foe.
But whatever the case is, this cosplay look is absolutely stunning.
Ruby, RWBY

As gorgeous and amazing as the gem this character is named after.
The costume wouldn’t be complete with out a blade as big as the character herself.
Captain America, Marvel

Chris Evans who?
He looks as tough as that shield he’s holding.
Hera Syndulla, Star Wars

You don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to find an amazing cosplay like this!
Here’s a strong case for why Hera Syndulla deserves a solo film, and we’ve already got a star.
Wonder Woman, DC

This cosplay is amazing and honestly, she looks just like Gal Gadot in the new Wonder Woman movie.
All she’s missing is the lasso of truth, but she won’t need it for us to admit how great this costume is.
Darth Maul, Star Wars

While we definitely think Darth Maul is evil, we think this cosplay is nothing short of amazing!
We’ll be seeing this superfan in our nightmares.
