What is the ALOT Toolbar?
The ALOT Toolbar exists to give you the information you want at your fingertips. ALOT creates special interest versions of our toolbar - we all have different interests and want different information at hand. Our first is the ALOT Recipes Toolbar. Look out for the ALOT Music Toolbar as well as many others which will be coming to ALOT very soon.
Which features come with the ALOT Toolbar?
Special Interest Search – One-click access to the information you’re interested in. For example, with the ALOT Recipes Toolbar, type in the recipe you’re looking for and click ‘Recipe Search.’
Search Features - Display both organic search results and sponsored links from our search partner’s search engine.
Toolbar Search – Search directly from the toolbar's search box. (show me)
Auto Search – Allows direct searching from the address bar. (show me)
Error Search – Shows links for potentially correct pages and search results for misspelled web addresses. (show me)
Search Assistant – Allows searching from the browser's search button. (unavailable in IE 7) (show me)
Search Provider – Provides quality search results from the browser's search box. (IE 7 only) (show me)
These features are hopefully unobtrusive and helpful when you search. They can also be disabled in toolbar preferences by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the ALOT toolbar logo.
Marketing Buttons The ALOT Toolbar may have additional buttons from ALOT marketing partners, e.g.,: a Dating button or a Free Credit Report button. These are shortcuts to their products or services.
How do I uninstall the ALOT Toolbar?
Uninstalling is simple and will take less than a minute. It's done through Windows' Add/Remove Control Panel - click here for a step-by-step guide.
If you still see the ALOT Toolbar in your Internet Explorer, or any other ALOT files remaining on your hard drive, please contact us.

How does ALOT pay the rent?
We make money through advertising. We believe that advertising needs to be informative to ALOT users - after all, we're all about making information easy. And we've put our money where our mouth is. We make our money if you find the information relevant - that's because the majority of our money comes from the revenue we earn when a user clicks on Sponsored Listings. So, we'll earn money if you find the Sponsored Listings relevant to you.
What are ALOT's privacy policies and practices?
We understand that your trust depends on us respecting your privacy and we want you to feel comfortable downloading the ALOT Toolbar. You can read our full privacy policy here. Key highlights for you are:
- We don’t collect personally identifiable information.
- We'll always ask you if you want to download the ALOT Toolbar first.
- We do use cookies to help track the effectiveness of our marketing campaign. You may disable them through your Internet Explorer settings should you wish.
- We make it really simple for you to uninstall the ALOT Toolbar.
Of course if you don't want to download anything with ALOT you don't need to - you can search to your heart's content at search.alot.com rather than through the ALOT Toolbar.

What is a DNS Error?
A DNS Error occurs when a web server could not be found at the URL you are seeking. When this happens, "Error Search" displays links for potentially correct pages.
I use Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, or similar firewall/proxy software and am having trouble downloading the ALOT Toolbar. What should I do?
Temporarily disable your firewall/proxy software and try the download again. You can reactivate your firewall/proxy software once you have downloaded the ALOT Toolbar.
I just installed the ALOT toolbar but can't find it - where did it go?
Please be aware that if you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer or Firefox, the ALOT toolbars will not install correctly. If you are using Internet Explorer and can not view your installed toolbar, click on View->Toolbars->ALOT Toolbar and then repeat those steps a second time. Once clicked twice, the ALOT toolbar should appear. If this is not the case, please contact us.
