ImageShack makes the process of uploading and sharing digital media extremely simple - there’s no need to register and only a few fields to fill in. The intuitive and easy-to-use free media hosting service can be used to upload pictures, flash files and movies. The site can host images in a variety of file formats, including jpeg, png, gif, tiff, bmp and swf. Each image you upload must be less than 5 megabytes in size. If it is greater than that amount, your image will be optimized for Internet use. Flash files will be rejected if they are over 5MB. To upload video files you must install the ImageShack toolbar. Video files must be less than 50MB and they will be automatically optimized by the ImageShack toolbar before uploading.
After uploading an image, you are redirected to a page containing different versions of URLs to the uploaded image. These URLs are preformatted in a variety of HTML and Bulletin Board code snippets, which can be used to hotlink the images on websites, MySpace profiles, blogs, eBay auctions, forums and message boards or send them to people via instant messaging.
You can also register on ImageShack for free, which gives you the ability to view and delete your previously uploaded images and batch upload multiple images, with the ability to resize them upon upload. And, there are a variety of ImageShack-created and third-party tools, widgets, applications and plug-ins that can be used to make uploading images easier. In addition, ImageShack enables you to simply and quickly create a Flash-based photo slideshow. You can supply image URLs, use a Flickr username, or import images from your computer or your “My Images” page. And just like the image uploading service, the slideshow creator serves up a page filled with codes and links.
So now you can easily share images with friends and family and post them on blogs, forums, websites and more with an instant connection to ImageShack.
