ALOT Chat
Chatting online has become a way of life. Back in the day you actually had to pick up the telephone if you wanted to communicate with someone. Now your friends, family and co-workers are a mere instant message away. And you can instantly connect with friends, family and co-workers around the world right from your toolbar or ALOT home page with the ALOT Chat button, powered by Meebo.
It's so easy to start chatting about any topic (say, for example, you could chat about how great ALOT toolbars and buttons are) in the ALOT Chat Room. Just click the button to launch the ALOT Chat Room window and start communicating in real-time with friends and family and meeting new people. No sign-up is required and you can chat from wherever you are on the Web.
Start off by choosing your chat nickname and customizing your display profile with your status, age, gender and location. Then just type your message into the message field and hit enter to send it. You'll find a variety of fun emoticons available to add to your messages. In addition, the ALOT Chat Room window also features a list of the people presently in the chat room. You can view each person's profile and send any of them instant messages.
We want to keep the ALOT Chat Room a fun, friendly and safe place so be sure to remember to follow basic chat etiquette. Be courteous and respectful of other chatters. Use appropriate language and don't harass, slander or abuse other chat room participants. And don't type in all caps; it's perceived as SHOUTING and therefore rude. If you don't want a someone to be able to IM you any longer, you can block them by clicking the "Block" link under their profile information. If you feel someone is not being polite or causing problems in the chat room you can click the "Warn" link under their profile info and they will receive a message that they have been warned. After a few warnings from different individuals, the person will be muted and you will no longer be able to view their conversation.
